Twitter made good on its promise to lift the pointless 140 character limit in direct messages on Wednesday, creating yet another viable messaging solution in the process. Going forward, users can be as wordy or concise as they want to be. Now your conversations will no longer feel like you’re back in the days of SMS.
Twitter is adamant in reminding users that the 140-character limit still applies to actual Tweets, which means you’ll have to stick with Facebook if you want to go on a nonsensical rant about the heat the Snapdragon 810 processor produces.
The change should be rolling out to Android and iOS apps, twitter.com, TweetDeck and Twitter for Mac. If you don’t see the feature immediately, the social network says it will have a more gradual rollout across the world over the next week weeks.
